Principal responsibilities
ï‚· Proactively provide creative input in order to engineer new and enhance existing trading infrastructure and strategies.
ï‚· Identify potential areas for optimization and performance enhancements including suggestions for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of overall code quality.
ï‚· Own all aspects of trading strategy code including trading algorithms, performance, and exchange connectivity.
ï‚· Provide realistic estimates for project and software development timelines ensuring accountability.
ï‚· Utilize exhaustive testing and debugging skills as part of the development process.
ï‚· Stay current on industry development and trends to maintain ongoing business awareness and a competitive edge.
ï‚· Work closely with traders and quantitative analysts to understand the business needs of the technology to ensure the system is ideally built for the problem at hand.
ï‚· Work closely with the support staff to ensure the successful system operation and take pride in being the first point of contact for technical troubleshooting.
Key skills for the role:
ï‚· Excellent academic record in a subject with a strong computational emphasis (e.g. computer science, engineering, physics, etc.); BS/BA required; PhD/MSc is well respected.
ï‚· Strong coding experience in C++ and SQL required
ï‚· Enjoys writing efficient and clear code. At home thinking about large scale design as well as making the implementation specifics great. Gets a sense of achievement out of seeing their code running in the real world. Likes to get involved in performance and machine specifics when optimizing code speed.
ï‚· Desire to stand out as one of the technical leaders in a global development organization
ï‚· Experience with Linux, databases and distributed systems required.
ï‚· Ability to debug applications using GDB is required.
ï‚· Ability to also code in C, Python, Java, MATLAB and/or other languages a plus.
ï‚· Ability to communicate ideas clearly and work well in a cross-disciplinary team.
