Jan 2011 - Jan 2013Engaged by IBM Global Business Services for a major public sector account to design, plan,and build the Lotus Domino messaging and collaboration platform for the UK and offshore delivery centres providing services to the customer. Responsible for all aspects of project management, service design and delivery, from requirements gathering through to successful deployment. Engaged with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure integration with all necessary environments and services in line with best practices and in compliance with UK government security requirements.
In addition to managing the messaging and collaboration project, I also filled the role of Service Manager and Change Manager for a period when required. Part of this role included chairing the CAB (Change Advisory Board) and e-CAB (emergency CAB) meetings and managing the resourcing, scheduling and stakeholder communications for all service impacting changes from a proposal through to successful implementation.

Messaging/Collaboration Infrastructure Project: Solely responsible for planning, design, estimates, delivery and transition of the Lotus Domino Email and Collaboration infrastructure for the Programme into a BAU operational state. -

Role also extended to project involvement and liaising/collaboration with Lotus Administrators in other PwC countries.

Senior Messaging Engineer,
United Nations Logistics Base (UNLB), Brindisi, Italy2010 - Jan 2011Was hired as a Senior Lotus Domino Engineer in the Network Support Unit in the United Nations Base in Brindisi, Italy. Role involved maintenance and project activities related in particular to mail routing, data replication and directory services in a large-scale enterprise environment (approximately 10,000 plus users and 120 servers. In addition the role involved supervision and coaching of junior staff members and project management responsibilities. The Network Support Unit supports the various UN peace-keeping missions around the world and serves as a central hub for providing services and monitoring availability and traffic throughout the organisation.
Key Achievements:
GSX Monitor Implementation Project: Was tasked with restarting a previously stopped project to implement a monitoring solution for Domino, Sametime and Blackberry servers to be used by the Network Operations Centre for the UN. Was responsible for the successful implementation of the GSX Monitor server solution from a cost estimating, planning and delivery perspective. The project was successful and has now replaced the legacy monitoring solution used by the UN.
UN Domino Domain Consolidation Project: The United Nations proposed a project to consolidate 40 separate Domino Domains (1 Domain per peace-keeping mission) to 1 consolidated domain. Involved from a project design and delivery perspective, specifically in the design of the process to be used for seamlessly migrating users to the new Domain without any loss of user data. -
Senior Messaging Administrator,
Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC), DublinJan 2007 - Jan 2009Appointed as primary Lotus Domino Engineer for FSC largest managed services account (Irish Houses of Parliament) in Ireland with 1,500 users & 30 plus Domino servers. Role involved planning and implementing upgrades & installations of Domino servers/ Notes Clients as well as maintenance & performance monitoring of all Domino Servers. It also required extensive involvement in projects and implementation of new products & services.
Key Achievements:
BES Upgrade Project: Tasked with conducting a feasibility study seeking possible solutions for increasing resilience/fault tolerance for the existing Blackberry Server Infrastructure. Brought forward a proposal and outline business case to the customer for possible solutions. Managed the project to deliver a new, resilient BES server infrastructure to the Houses of the Oireachtas by replacing the existing, outdated and single-point-of-failure server, with two new servers and Neverfail for BES providing the server resilience. Project was completed successfully and under budget.
Quickr Implementation Project: The Library & Research Unit within the Houses of the Oireachtas had submitted a project brief to deliver a Content and Document Management/Collaboration solution. Microsoft had been onsite to present Sharepoint. Took the initiative to invite IBM to present their equivalent product to the customer (Lotus Quickr for Domino) and also proposed, planned, budgeted and delivered a pilot Quickr service to the L&R Unit.
Instant Messaging Project/Sametime Project: Managed a project to implement an Instant Messaging service to the customer as they had some personnel with hearing difficulties and this would aid collaboration with them. As customer was a Domino house, IBM Sametime was chosen as the best business option. Project was delivered successfully on time and meeting the customer’s quality acceptance criteria.

Recruited to head up existing IT team of 4 in leading financial services company with approximately 500 users in Ireland. Main focus on improving SLA delivery and customer relationships, while also providing support and cover for the IT manager when required. Expansive position which included project management, departmental direction, chairing weekly team meetings, purchasing equipment and full design, installation, configuration, engineering, implementation, support, training, administration, and management authority for the full range of technical services.
Key Achievements:
Leased Line Migration Project: Project managed the migration of all network services from a single, legacy leased line and firewall to a new, fast and resilient leased line and new firewalls. All affected services were migrated to the new leased lines on schedule and under budget and without any business impacting outages.
NT Domain to AD Domain Migration Project: Successfully managed the migration of one subsidiary company’s users and servers from a legacy NT domain to the group corporation’s new AD domain. Responsible for the technical designs as well as the resource planning and scheduling and liaising with external service providers.
Domino Migration Project: As a subsidiary company decided to migrate from Domino to Exchange (mail) and from Notes databases to a new application framework, the mail accounts and production application data had to be migrated. As I was departing for a new role, I was not managing this project, but designed, configured, tested (PoT) and documented the procedures for migrating the mailboxes to exchange and the Notes application data to SQL databases. -
